Each year between the efforts of Adult Sunday School Classes, the St. Mark Missions Committee and the United Methodist Youth Fellowship numerous mission projects are engaged in and completed. Homes are restored, families are being provided with clothing, food and shelter, schools are assisted with their less fortunate students, and under-financed churches, both in the United States and abroad, are being helped in hands-on fashion by St. Mark United Methodist Church mission project volunteers.
Some of our many current mission/outreach projects and recipients are: Urban Ministries (which includes several foci and efforts throughout the year), Augusta Cares, Family Promise, UMCOR Disaster Relief, Garrett Elementary School, The Lydia Project (women coping with cancer), and the United Methodist Children's Home.
Family Promise, formerly known as Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), is an outreach ministry shared with several churches in the Augusta area. Each church provides housing for a week at a time for families who have lost their homes. Church volunteers provide meals, transportation, over-night hosts, and other areas of service as needed.
